Artist Alexey Kurbatov's work is mind-blowing!

Oh how I love these portraits by Moscow's young artist, Alexey Kurbatov!

His use of strong lines and muted tones turns these famous protraits into living sculptures. His style reminds me of a modern day Picasso by painting in a realistic manner and his edgy technique. I'm sure we will be seeing more of his art work soon!

Mexican Inspiration

How Amazing is this!!! This whole design inspires me and reminds me of my passion for creative forms of expression.

These pictures are from a cocktail lounge called Yucca, which is located on the 3rd floor of Mansion 26F in Sinan Mansion, Shanghai. The interior design was by an agency called Lime 388. I am loving their mix of patterns, from the mexican inspired mosaics on the floor to the paisley printed furniture. The funky bright colors are broken up with black furniture and white ceilings which help to balance out the shock of all this craziness. I feel like I'm in a Tim Burton movie mixed with the styling of Salvador Dali. As crazy at it seems...I really love this space. I know its a bit much, but its modern, cool, and overall amazing! Can you image what happens when people get a tipsy in here!

While writing this blog it brought me back to my ultimate favorite designer from Project Runway, MONDO! Who I thought should have won, but that's another blog post. This cocktail lounge is the perfect place for Mondo to have a photoshoot in and for him to showcase his collection. They fit together perfectly. I guess great minds really do think alike.

My Best Dressed Picks from the 2011 People's Choice Awards

I am so excited that award season is finally here! Seeing today's hottest stars walk the red carpet wearing pieces from top fashion designers collections takes my breath away!

The 2011 People's Choice Awards lived up to its theme of Hollywood chic. My best dressed picks choose to stay away from floor length gowns to show off their amazing legs in short cocktail dresses. Simple and soft pinks, taupes, and golds were the main colors being showcased at this stunning event.

My #1 best dressed pick goes to Selena Gomez, who decided to wear two beautiful dresses that night. To walk the "blue" carpet, Selena wore a gorgeous one shoulder Paule Ka dress with neutral peep-toe pumps and a little black clutch. This look is my ultimate fav- the styling suits her age and the occasion perfectly! For the stage, Selena wore a printed Irina Shabayeva dress with gold accessories. This dress was playful, youthful, and suited her bubbly personality to a tee.

Taylor Swift looked simply lovely in a dress by J. Mendel and Prada heels. I love how she went with a red lip to add a pop of color to her delicate palette. Mila Kunis also wore a dress by J. Mendel and Brian Atwood pumps. Both ladies looked classic and beautiful!

My next two ladies went with show-stopping gold dresses instead of the neutral trend we've been seeing. Kristen Stewart wore a sequined Reem Acra dress. To rock it out, she paired it with Jimmy Choo peep-toe black pumps and a black belt. Kim Kardashian wore a strapless Malandrino dress and Christian Louboutin peep-toe heels. I am loving the gold chain Rima Limor necklace and chanel clutch. The look was well put to together and she looked great!

This event was a great kick-off to award season. The fashions only get better from here!

Off the Runway...

Phillip Lim, who is one of my favorite designers, has done it again! With his refine tailoring and eye for luxury, Phillip Lim definitely knows what a woman wants.

These dresses from his Spring 2011 ready to wear collection I would wear anyday! I love his play on abstraction with sheer, neutral fabrics. Nancy Rohde, who was Lim's stylist for this show, did an amazing job as well. From the hair to the heels, the whole look flows effortlessly with the fashion being your main focus.

I had to also include one of the greatest designers ever who will continue to prosper and always be looked upon for creative inspiration in this fashion world, the unforgettable, Alexander McQueen!

His Spring 2011 collection was Gorgeous and had a life of its own!! The craftmanship and attention to detail is unbelivable. It was a pleasant surprise to see a more softened and relaxed feeling being added to McQueen's known aesthetic of hard and edgy fashions. The flowy bohemian dress is an elegant piece that I can see Eva Mendes or Jennifer Lopez wearing to any red carpet event. All three dresses I felt represented fashion as an art form, which can only be interpreted from the master himself.

Photoshoots...my favorite part of the job

From 2009 to 2010, I assisted Chelsea Handler's key stylists, Amy Meyer and Linda Nguyen, on the show and was privileged to assist them on a few photoshoots. The first photo is Chelsea's new headshot, I'm sure you have seen this because it was used for press advertisements. Next, is the 944 magazine cover and feature spread photos. What was really nice about both these photoshoots was that they were shot in the building where she tapes her show. With that said, it was wonderful because all her wardrobe was already there so we didn't have to haul anything!

Playboy Magazine took 2 days to shoot and was shot at 2 locations. The cover was shot at Smashbox Studios and the featured spread photos were shot at an amazing house in Venice Beach, CA. We had such a great time and this by far is my favorite photoshoot I worked on!

Chelsea looked ridiculously amazing on the cover of Shape Magazine!  She truly takes great care of her body from eating right to working out. I will never forget the two full racks of bathing suits and workout clothes we brought for this shoot. In addition, having to wipe her down so her spray tan wouldn't ruin the clothes (talk about up close and personal).

The last photos are from People Magazine's Most Beautiful issue. This was actually shot at a local diner in LA. My favorite photo from this shoot is the one of her wearing the flirty pink dress accentuated by her yellow heels. Gorgeous!

Holiday Cheer with Chelsea Lately Crew

I couldn't have thought of a better way to kick off the holiday season then to celebrate with the show's family. Working on the show was an amazing part of my life and I am privileged to have worked with such talented individuals.

To Linda and Amy- you made me the stylist/fashionista I am today and thank you for teaching me the tricks of the trade!
